YWAM Ntaja Outreach Base
YWAM Ntaja is a base focused on great commission outreach in the YAO tribe which is mainly Isalmic. Our purpose is to share God’s love to the unreached Yao people in the area; by running Bible studies in Nikhutu, kids and youth ministries at the base, and by showing the Jesus movie and doing door to door evangelism in Hiwala, Mussa and Ngongondo village. We are also starting to work with the orphans in the Yao village of Nkhuna.
The Staff
There are 5 permanent staff at the base; Elliot and Subena Size along with Joel and Joyce Mwalendo and Asily. We love hosting short term outreach groups, often as part of their DTS training with YWAM. If you have a passion to reach the unreached then this could be an awesome location for you and your outreach team.
Impact & Passion
We run a program to help train the Pastors of local Churches, as well as from the surrounding districts. Like our training seminar last year where about 250 pastors and church leaders attended – many of who have never be able to access Bible school but love to come each month to unite and be trained!
Our main passion is for these people to know Jesus as the Saviour of their lives, and to share His love for others through understanding His heart. The work is very fruitful with many open to listen, be healed, gather for teaching and start to follow. Kids, Pastors, Mums in their homes and the old in their villages, open their doors and hearts to hear the Good News.
Healing Testimonies
We have seen Jesus heal many people through the Bible studies and showing the Jesus movie.
Recently a woman who had very bad eyesight was healed straight away when we prayed for her at one of the Bible studies – praise Jesus!
In January we visited Ngongondo village where we found the Shehe, the leader of the Muslim village, who had been suffering with a swollen stomach for 7 years. He was completely healed on the spot after we prayed for him, and then he started to testify to the other villagers who then started to gather when we ministered!
We love to see many people come to Jesus, and for him to change their lives in all different ways; like restoring families, as many of the husbands have left their families for various reasons.
Struggles and Joys of our work
One of our joys is to go to hard to access Muslim villages, sometimes riding for hours to arrive and hold a bible study; people are so hungry to hear! This can also be a big challenge as most of the villages we want to reach are very far apart sometimes 3-5 hours. We use bicycles to travel in between but are praying for a motorbike.
Also we need more materials to use such as the audio bibles in the Yao language as many of the people that we are trying to reach are not educated and cannot read. Its tough to not have enough Bibles – but is also an amazing problem to have!
Our joy is to love and serve Jesus in Ntaja! When you come you will love the warmth of the people, the open air showers, happy kids, healings, the hunger and an oportunity to be really fruitful. Ring me (Eliot size +265 999703569) if your interested in coming or contact the main base here.
